I contributed to groundbreaking research on the evolutionary origins of multicellularity by studying the role of voltage-gated calcium channels in the Choanoflagellate Salpingoeca rosetta. This unicellular organism is the closest living relative to animals and serves as a model for understanding the mechanisms that might have been involved in early animal evolution. Our first manuscript on choanoflagellates is in press to be published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science, USA, a high-impact journal. Additionally, I presented a poster on my research findings at the Laurier Research Symposium, highlighting the significance of calcium channels in choanoflagellates.Responsibilities: 1.
