Dr. Aisha Harris is a board-certified Family Medicine Physician who owns and works at Harris Family Health, a direct primary care clinic in her hometown of Flint, Michigan. She graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, DC and completed her Family Medicine residency at the University of Illinois in Chicago, IL. She focuses on improving health literacy and access through outreach work with her BLK FAM DOC platform and helps combat health disparities through health education and advocacy initiatives. Broad in her focus she has increased interest in minority health, mental health, climate change and environmental justice in her outreach and advocacy work. Additionally, she is a professor at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and vice chair of the Michigan Academy of Family Physicians advocacy committee. She is also involved in the National Medical Association and Committee to Protect Health Care. To diversity the health care industry she wrote the book "60+ Health Careers You Should Know About: A Guide To Help You Start Your Health Career" which is available on Amazon.Her interests include but are not limited to- Addressing health access barriers and maintaining quality health care, especially associated with minority health, health literacy, mental health, substance use disorders, climate change, and environmental justice. - Contributing to and working with public health and health policy initiatives that combat health disparities and strengthen primary care prevention - Participating in public speaking opportunities and community outreach programs- Working in health care consulting, health advocacy, and medical writing
