The role cooperates and work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, regional team leads across Ontario, Canada, North America and GHD's global network.- Work with a team to develop the design for projects and/or reviews architectural or engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents to ensure compliance with government codes, laws and regulations.- Support the lead architect with drafting and modelling of plans and design options when necessary, and the ability to provide documentation support and added value in a design build environment.- Prepares and/or review preliminary and detail documentation in a 3D environment.- Reviews and provides support to team on policies and procedures in relation to architectural structures and systems and construction / safety codes.- Research literature and maintain knowledge of current building materials, structural, mechanical, and electrical system codes, and methods of application.- Works with customers and clients to gather facts, defines design and space planning problems, conceptualize possible solutions and secure approvals of proposals.- Reviews product literature, analyzes materials and determines appropriateness for application to projects.- Prepares presentations, annotated plans, axonometric diagrams, and other necessary information to support the design team.- Performs design drafting including preliminary drawings, working drawings, and full detail drawings for architectural woks associated with building construction or improvement projects.- Supports multi-disciplinary reviews and coordination within a 3D environment to provide quality service to clients.

A client and project focused role taking on responsibility for the overview, direction and guidance of project teams. The role supported the design operations of the GHD UAE office whilst based in Manila, Philippines, in the capacity of Direct Workshare. - Undertakes the role of Job Management for specific projects, including monitoring the performance and activities of support staff relative to time and cost budgets.- Prepare conceptual presentation sketches/ plans/ BIM models / images based on written project briefing or discussions.- Attend and participate in meetings with client groups (externa and internal GHD clients from other global offices).- Prepare detail drawings based on previous examples or more frequently concept sketch designs utilizing advanced knowledge of relevant design, drafting and modelling principles.- Participate in project design discussions with project teams, and assign work within a small team accordingly.- Receive training in various phases of office and field work including design, drawings and studies.- Coordination of drafting and visualization work as assigned by senior staff.- Manages small projects from a Project Architect role, liaising with senior staff as required.- Build effective relationships with Professionals in other Business Groups to facilitate multi-disciplinary coordination for specific projects.- High level of architectural design and documentation skills covering a broad range of project types and budgets.

As part of this large international multi-disciplinary practice, I am able to work alongside other professionals from other disciplines both from within and external to BDP. My involvement as early as pre-qualification to RFP stages, through to Masterpaln, Concept to Issued for Information packages to construction on site in most projects including handover has resulted in an unparalleled understanding of the complete project cycle. Working for BDP has exposed me to a lot of knowledge and skill sets for a wide range of projects such as preparation of prequalification documents, RFPs and bids, architectural specifications writing for a Passenger Cruise Terminal, Concept designs for Leisure and Hospitality Projects, as a site architect for residential projects in neighbouring Sharjah and Dubai, review of contract documents and BOQs for work place fit out projects, composition of mood boards and material selection for presentation and approval of clients, conducting ocular inspections to collect site data and on site progress monitoring of works.The multi-cultural environment within BDP has led me to develop a better tolerance and understanding of office dynamics and how to interact and manage people from various parts of the globe.
