As an architecture graduate with a passion for vernacular architecture and material exploration, my journey has led me to diverse experiences in both architecture and the arts. During my academic years, I had the opportunity to intern with Dustudio in Auroville, where I delved into the use of natural materials and was introduced to the possibilities of ceramics in architecture. This exposure sparked a lasting interest in ceramics and clay, which I continue to research and explore in my own capacity. My enthusiasm for the arts expanded when I worked in production at the Kochi-Muziris Biennale. Here, I engaged with artists, curators, and research-based practitioners, gaining insight into the intricate relationship between artwork and the space it occupies. This experience deepened my understanding of the arts and inspired me to approach exhibition design with a holistic view of art in context.Following the Biennale, I had the opportunity to be part of the founding team at RIZQ, an art initiative in Abu Dhabi, where I helped set up and produce the gallery’s initial shows. RIZQ focuses on art from and about the Global South, and being involved in its development offered me invaluable experience in navigating the art gallery world, distinct from the Biennale experience. These roles have introduced me to the evolving art scene in the UAE and fostered my growing interest in exhibition design and curatorial practices.Currently, I am working with The Third Line in Dubai, which has allowed me to explore contemporary art from West Asia while immersing myself in the vibrant community at Alserkal Avenue. Being surrounded by exhibitions, events and people in art is both inspiring and educational, and I look forward to continuing my journey at the intersection of architecture, art, and exhibition design.

Assistant To The Executive DirectorRizq Art Initiative Jun 2023 - May 2024Abu Dhabi Emirate, United Arab EmiratesThis multifaceted role provided a remarkable learning curve, allowing me to witness and contribute to RAI's growth from its inception to its first year of successful operation. My experience transcended the typical duties of an assistant. As RAI took shape, I leveraged my background in architecture to actively participate in the gallery space construction and design. Collaborating with the architect, I provided input on functional layouts, exhibition flow, and aesthetic considerations. Seeing the gallery transform from a blueprint to a vibrant space dedicated to art deeply instilled a sense of ownership and pride in RAI.Over the past year, RAI has curated and hosted four exhibitions, published an art publication, and organized numerous events that fostered dialogue and engagement with art. In my role, I provided logistical and administrative support for all these endeavors. This included managing artist relations, coordinating exhibition logistics, and overseeing marketing and communication efforts.Working closely with the Executive Director and team, I gained invaluable exposure to the inner workings of the art world. I learned about curatorial practices, exhibition management, and the intricacies of the art market. Witnessing the creative process unfold, from initial concepts to final exhibitions, was truly inspiring.Additionally, through RAI's events and initiatives, I had the privilege of meeting and collaborating with established artists, curators, collectors, and art enthusiasts from the region. This network of connections proved invaluable in my professional development and broadened my understanding of the vibrant Middle Eastern art scene. -
