Alexander (Aj) Arbuckle is a Data Science @ N1 Health at N1 Health. Colleagues describe them as "It is a pleasure to recommend Alexander (AJ) Arbuckle. I supervised AJ for eight months during his work as a volunteer data analyst with the nonprofit Mil Milagros. AJ’s passion for data analysis was clear from the beginning of his communication with Mil Milagros. Even before his volunteer project formally began, he shared his ideas for the tools and knowledge he’d need, and he took the initiative to do research and training on his own.  I provided AJ with a basic understanding of MM’s programs and the goals of the data project, but as I am not an expert in data analysis, I could only offer limited guidance for the actual processes. AJ quickly grasped the objectives of our programs and translated our research questions into concrete analysis plans. He always established specific follow-up steps at the end of each project meeting, and he was incredibly self-directed in completing them. AJ recognized the value of all stages of the data analysis process. He performed his tasks with patience and competence, from sorting through scattered and incomplete data sources to presenting the progress of his work in a clear manner.  He was also flexible with changing expectations for how the data had to be organized and which tools he could use to analyze them.  In his final project report, he clearly explained for an audience of non-experts the conclusions he derived from the data, as well as his processes for arriving at them. He also expanded on the original research questions to address related questions that we had not specifically asked.  Throughout the project, AJ never forgot the real-world implications of his work. His background in psychology was apparent in his consideration of the impact that his analyses would have on Mil Milagros’ programs and participant experiences.  AJ was a delight to work with, and I have no doubt that he will prove invaluable in his future place of employment.
