About Austin J Deardorff
I am a fourth-year accounting student at Oregon State University, and I plan to be CPA eligible by March of 2025. As Vice President of Beta Alpha Psi, I have actively sought ways to encourage students in their studies. Recently, I have begun tutoring accounting students four times a week on topics such as revenue recognition, adjusting entries, and other fundamental accounting concepts. Helping students learn about a field I am extremely passionate about has brought me immense joy, and I hope to inspire students to consider pursuing a major in accounting. In the summer of 2023, I had the opportunity to work for Grant Thornton as a Taxation Intern. Most of my time at Grant Thornton was spent working on 1120, 8890 and other corporate tax forms. I found international tax extremely intriguing, and would love to gain more experience in that service line.Aside from accounting, I recently accepted a role as Chair for the Oregon State Newman center. My goal is to create an environment where all feel welcome and supported as they navigate college and the early stages of their careers. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, hiking, and snowboarding.
