While at BBD I have worked for 3 major clients.VodaPay / Vodacom Financial Services - I won a hackathon at Vodacom and an executive decision was made to move me to a project with the telecommunications giant who was expanding their portfolio into financial services called VodaPay/VFS. - When joining I was made the technical-lead for Mini-Programs. This tech allowed us to use a powerful micro-frontend framework to host applications on a super-app. - My role included consulting to our 3rd party vendor technical teams across 25+ countries, building and delivering over 100 apps using the framework. - Me and our larger team won a CEO award for special recognition and the app got attention from other telco owned platforms across Africa. - Engineering responsibilities and technical stacks I used throughout included the mini-program framework DSL’s, web-frameworks in Vue and React, Node.js, Docker and AWS cloud services including the Serverless Framework, AWS Lambdas, Aurora and DynamoDB.Discovery Bank - I developed back-office solutions for Discovery Bank, a major bank in South Africa. Interfaces and services were built on .Net core and C#.Vanguard - I was on the core team of a strategic project on a workflow orchestrator and accelerator called Vanguard. - Using Vanguard as an orchestrator I helped run many initiatives to pilot and proof this solution for our clients. As an accelerator it allowed us to build high-grade solutions in a short time. Adoption for this solution eventually was implemented in major banks, governments and enterprises globally including Australia and the UK. - Engineering responsibilities and technical stacks included Python, Stencil.js, web-components, React and Angular.

Pixelbaste is a small and innovative software dev company, I was lucky to work on many exciting projects which spanned a wide range of domains. This was my foray in the highly exciting world of startups. We built many projects quickly, but never compromised on quality and always met our deadlines. We mainly used MySQL and PHP Laravel for our services and Angular and Ionic as our web and mobile stacks. In house projects were also built and were encouraged to build out ideas into software.- We built and maintained sites for a range of SMEs which included education, e-commerce and reel-estate.- We developed from the ground up a CRM solution for a real-estate company which facilitated the sale of properties across Gauteng. - One big highlight was interactive children’s education and gaming app for iOS and Android using Ionic, PHP and Laravel called Captain Calm which was released onto the Google-Play/ iOS-App Stores. - We developed tooling for WooComerce solutions by creating consumer-friendly Wordpress plugins.- Some exciting tech we used included ElasticSearch and the Watson API for sentiment analysis.

I started my software career working as a Junior Software developer at Interon Solutions. My role predominantly involved web development using HTML, CSS and JavaScript. We made use of the powerful C# CMS, Umbruco.

I started my career working as a in the world of filmmaking. This entailed a lot of exciting projects and travelling. I was lucky to work on the sets of film, TV and advertising. This has included directing, editing, cinematography, special-effects and animation. I have worked on big commercials as a production assistant, in the art department and as a videography assistant. Some movies I worked on included "Stuur groete aan Mannetjies Roux" and "Surviving Evil". I was also directing, shooting and editing projects with other young filmmakers such as short-films and music videos. This was my first experience in the world of software development, I started to learn code so the I could work with 3D modelling software Maya. This opened a whole new avenue into what was possible, and although I enjoyed filmmaking, it eventually became time to pursue my second passion which was technology.
