About Aja Burks, Ph. D., Lmsw

I am passionate about the mental health field and assisting people get back on their feet. I'd like to see us break the stigma of mental illness and build a stronger health care platform in our community. I have found my experience working with individuals with experiences of childhood trauma is such a rewarding experience and drives me daily. I also work with individuals with depression, anxiety, and individuals experiencing race-based stress I currently own and operate Transformative Mind Counseling LLC. A group practice in Southfield, MI servicing individuals who identify with anxiety, depression, and trauma experiences. Our goal is to assist our clients in wellness and liberated healing. I also have my Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. I am core Faculty at Saybrook University. I also function as Co-Coordinator for Field Placement in the Counseling Department. I am also interested in researching multicultural counseling, anti-racism pedagogy in counselor education and supervision, and trauma.
