I prepared and taught English lessons for junior high school students in Sakai City, aiding local Japanese teachers. I taught years 1-3 and class sizes ranging from 20-43 students per class, teaching an average of 3 classes per day. I particularly made use of my background in illustration to create original learning aids/materials to great effect. I also was responsible for giving English lessons to students in a class for differently-abled learners from time to time. I was required to speak English in the classroom but used my Japanese language skills to effectively communicate with those around me. I also created various original documents in Japanese and English, including a weekly newsletter that I personally translated from English to Japanese with little to no assistance.I later transferred to the Fukuoka branch, where I taught junior high school and elementary students in Tosu City, Saga, Japan. My duties and functions were basically the same as my previous position in Osaka, with the main difference being that I was required to teach half of my elementary school classes as the main teacher instead of as an aid. I also created various original documents and projects for students and teachers, including a semester long project that resulted in the creation six individual stories, illustrated and hand-bound into books for the 3rd year junior high school students that I taught.
