About António José Soares
I hold a PhD in Health Psychology from the University of Minho, a post-graduation training course in Project Management, and an Executive Management course from Porto Business School. I first started working in FMUP, on a clinical communication training project, funded by the FCT, under the supervision of Prof. Maria Amélia Ferreira (2011 Gulbenkian's’ Education Prize, past Director of FMUP). Also, I started my collaboration with the Obstetric Emergencies training programs in Medical Simulation (FMUP and CESIMED). I'm currently Principal Investigator in FMUP, Executive Director of CINTESIS (coordinated by Prof. Altamiro da Costa-Pereira, and current Director of FMUP), Executive Director of the Associate Laboratory RISE (coordinated by Prof. Fernando Schmitt) and Coordinator of the Knowledge Management Unit of FMUP. In addition, I'm also representing CINTESIS in the Porto4Ageing consortium - following the initiative EIP-AHA from the European Commission (EC), CINTESIS in PtCRIN (Portuguese Clinical Research Infrastructure Network) - and CINTESIS in the A3ES (Portuguese Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education) meetings. I also represented FMUP in Health Cluster Portugal (Portuguese Economic Competitive Cluster in Health) and RACS (Portuguese-speaking Academic Health Sciences Network). I was elected a member of FMUP's Scientific Council, UPorto Senate and secretary of RACS. I'm also an affiliated member of the Department of Community Medicine, Health Information and Decision(MEDCIDS) of FMUP.I frequently conduct Expert review and rapporteur assignments in several international funding agencies including the FCT, European Commission, EUREKA, COST, the European Joint Programme on Rare Diseases, the Lithuanian Research Council and the Research Promotion Foundation of Cyprus, having participated in over 50 review panels, helping to distribute more then 145M€ in research funds.
