Pennine Analytical offers contract analysis services. We specialise in combustion organic elemental analysis (determination of total carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen, sulphur, oxygen), trace sulphur & chlorine, We also offer GC, HPLC and GCMS analysis, customised as required.

Primarily focusing on the Silkolene brand of motorcycle lubricants; • Familiarisation with all applicable laboratory test methods associated with the analysis and certification of automotive lubricants and additional products (engine oil, gear oil, hydraulic oils, brake and clutch fluid, antifreeze, cleaners) • Familiarisation and training with several kinds of tribo-mechanical testing relating to friction, wear and EP performance • Providing technical inquiry support to customer service and directly to customers• Reviewing current product formulations, compiling supporting data, managing submissions for certification / approval• Formulation and re-formulation work • Reviewing global product formulations, contributing to the global harmonisation strategy to streamline, certify and manage the output from affiliate companies • Working in cooperation with motorcycle race teams to customise and optimise products Additional experience gained with water-glycol formulations for novel oil field drilling technology. Developed customised test methods for quantifying the behavior of aqueous products based on surface activity.Operated Vickers V104c hydraulic rig test, conducting ASTM D2882 to asses wear protection of HFC type hydraulic fluids.

As development chemist I was the intermediary between the manufacturing, product development and quality control functions. Working in a fast paced environment and responsible for a wide range of activities including the planning and execution of full scale manufacturing trials from the kilogram to tonne scale. Working within an ISO 9001 quality system M&I develop, produce and test a range of specialist materials for science and industry, including dielectric fluids for use in power and distribution transformers, high vacuum greases, lubricants, waxes, sealants and diffusion pump oils.
