Lethabo Power Station, Free State, South Africa

I was responsible for project scoping activities and resource management on outages performed on the various units at the Power Station, based on the approved budget. I was involved in the drafting of contracts (e.g. LTSA and short-term contracts) to support the requirements of authorized technical scope of works for upcoming outages specific to the electrical systems (i.e. Generator, Switchgear, Transformers). This also included inventory management i.e. strategic spares, long lead spares and planning of critical spares for upcoming outages.I was responsible for skills development of staff (i.e. arranging training to enhance lacking competencies and providing on-job training)

Eskom Megawatt Park, Johannesburg, South Africa

I was the lead electrical engineer on; Dust handling plant projects, Lethabo C&I refurbishment project, Lethabo MV, LV and DC switchgear upgrade project, Eskom Real Estate Projects, Duvha National Control Centre Relocation project amongst others. These projects entail Concept and Basic designs of electrical reticulation systems. The Lethabo C&I project involves condition monitoring on various electrical systems (i.e. transformers, MV motors, MV switchgear etc.). The Lethabo Switchgear project included Substation Automation System (SAS), which includes conformance to IEC 61850. I was also part of Solar PV augmentation projects for coal fired power stations and Distributed Grid Battery Storage projects for various distribution sites. I created excel tools using VBA programming to assist in performing electrical engineering design for Solar PV systems and electrical cable sizing.

Responsible for managing the electrical engineering scope that various auxiliary systems required to support the generating unit (i.e. water treatment plant system, low pressure services, low voltage switchgear, cabling and racking and managing construction power). Developed processes to improve productivity and work efficiencies.

I performed plant walk downs on the Kendal Power Station for the purposes of executing refurbishment projects.
