NIS Client for Windows NT:Network information service (NIS YP) centralizes network-wide database maintenance. This function is particularly useful for the password and group databases, which maintain user account information and organize users into functional group. With NIS, System administrator only has to maintain one database (for NT and Unix) and users are able to go between Unix and NT with same password.Windows NT does not provide NIS support. The passwd and group info are different from Unix. The objective was to add NIS support to NT so that all user authentication is done thru NIS maps. Activity involved developing the ypbind service, yp-client library and writing the control panel applet.For this project Tektronix has awarded me with "Annual Process Leader Ship Award"Local Printer Support on Windows NTI was involved in the design and implementation of Local Printer support for WinDD. This requires redirecting the Printer data from the WinDD server to the X-Terminal's printer driver when the user is logged in through the WinDD local client on the X-Terminal. We have successfully implemented this feature and and now working towards implementing the daisy chaining of Local Floppy drive and Printer feature.Xpressware Release 8.0 Modifications :This involved testing, fixing the bugs found in the Xpressware family of products. It also involved merging of new X-consortium releases in the Xpressware tree of source code.FlashROM GUI, an Xpressware family product from TektronixWhen several X-Terminal's begins booting over the network, the network can really get congested. To alleviate the problem, X-Terminal's have the optional Flash card into which the OS can be flashed and the terminal rebooted from the ROM.
