My role at Upland is evolving to return to managing a team as the Adestra team scales up. I am directly and indirectly responsible for 17 team members across multiple disciplines, backend, frontend and QA, with regular one-to-ones and running community of practice meetings for backend and Frontend development. Also responsible for recruiting new team members and coaching, mentoring and developing each team member. I am fostering a Community of practice for managers at my level to share knowledge and discuss issues.I maintain an architecture role, working with the Upland architecture team, responsible for designing and planning new features and product updates, integrating other Upland products and working with other groups.

After Upland acquired Adestra, my role became more focused on Architecture. A significant project was the migration of Adestra from a Colocated Datacentre to cloud infrastructure in AWS. For that, I designed several critical parts of the new infrastructure utilising AWS technologies to manage S3 object storage, TLS certificates and CloudFront configuration for thousands of customer domains. Lambda functions for routing users to the appropriate back end and Route53 DNS management.I also worked on integrations with other Upland products to use Adestra. I joined a team of architects working across multiple products to share knowledge and discuss approaches to new features.Although my role remained the same, Upland reassigned Job Titles to make them more consistent across the teams, and so I became known as a Principal Software Engineer rather than Software Architect.

As Adestra's development team grew, I took on the role of managing the backend development team of 9 members. I had regular one-to-ones with each team member, working on performance and progression through coaching and goal alignment.This was part of a broader growth strategy at Adestra, where we migrated adestra through an agile transformation and established three scrum teams to work collaboratively on new features for Adestra. I ran a community of practice meeting for backend Perl development. I was able to maintain a role in Senior development tasks, such as taking on leadership of several critical projects for Adestra. I remained a "go-to" person for debugging complex issues, tackling production problems and resolving technical obstacles.This continued until Upland acquired Adestra, after which a restructuring took place, and there was a need for my role to change to focus on the architecture and design of large infrastructure projects such as a migration to AWS.

Advising on all IT issues for the company. From developing bid proposals on IT related projects to development, maintenance and procurement of company IT assets.

Responsible for the complete IT infrastructure of the organisation, development of bespoke software tools to fit the requirements of the organisation and our clients.

Working as part of an interdisciplinary team of developers creating exciting new technologies for the mobile platform. My work mostly involves developing database driven, mobile friendly, web sites that allow users to access Rok's flagship mobile TV product.

Developer of software projects for a number of clients, including, Reid Crowther Ltd, Media Maintenance Company Ltd, Orange UK, Kohler Mira and Aeko Communications.

Responsible for the complete IT infrastructure of the organisation in Nigeria, development of workflow management tools, document management, payment management and data entry systems.

I took the job in the summer before going to university, and because of the flexible hours I was able to work, I stayed on several evenings a week during my studies at UWE. I enjoyed working with a nice crowd of people, from all backgrounds.
