Designing and assisting with the development of a new cashflow projection model in C# for a Funeral portfolio in a Agile SCRUM environment. Goal of the project was to build easily maintainable software whilst also training junior personel 'on the job'. Roles: Lead developer of the solution. Technical Project Manager + Implementation lead. Responsible for leading the design and development of a new model for the Adequacy test for the DNB (Toereikendheidstoets DNB). Elements will comprise, for example:- Calculating the Best Estimate liabilities for the pension products, company cost etc;- Calculating the Solvency II shocks for mortality, lapse, etc;- Calculating the Time Value of Options and Guarantees (TVOG).Goal is to establish a model that is able to calculate all the necessary steps within the least amount of time, to allow as much time as possible for analysis of the results instead of waiting for the model to finish calculating.Examples of technologies used: Python, MariaDB, VBA (Excel).

As Principal Consultant my activities were focused on the cutting edge between actuarial science and information technology. Often found combining solution design and technical project management, helping clients define new target architecture and on-site build the solution together with the client's Business SME's and engineers.

Broad role in data analysis and actuarial development.Examples of day to day work:- Data analysis using SQL Server Management Studio, data models, source systems (IBM Mainframe using Extra! Client, specific ASR developed software);- Functional design with regards to source data interpretation (to enhance data used in compensation calculations);- Development on the VBA tool created by (senior) Actuarial Analists and Actuaries;- Striving for transparency and insight in calculation output, using Microsoft Access and SQL Server Management Studio on Actuarial results;- Project management and planning.

Starting on the project "History retrieval" for the Compensation Arrangement on Life insurances based on stocks and bonds in October I saw the first glimps of the ASR systems. After three weeks of seeing how the history of old life insurances was beeing reconstructed I moved on to Actuarial Support. At first I enriched old life insurances with modern demands on Zillmer data, seeing a lot of exotic product conversions. Later moving on to the Models De Ruiter 3 (yearly overviews for stocks and bonds life products) project where I contributed on, for example:- The manual reconstruction of cost/benefit overviews for technical and functional fall-out using Excel (+VBA) models; - The enhancement of the Excel (+VBA) models used, to improve the efficiëncy and completeness of the models; - The development of Excel (+VBA) tools on numerous occasions (solo + teambased) to simplify and reduce the amount of work.

After getting my first introduction in the field of Health Care Insurance at the Expenses Claims Department, I quickly moved on to Rectification team. Quickly growing in knowledge and experience, I was able to perform a lot of data analysis for the definite No-Claim run 2007, Credit bills, work flow projections and assorted technical issues within the datastructure. Having enhanced my analysis skills with practical experience, writing hundreds of letters explaining situations and solving numerous complaints, I can easily say that I learned a lot. I've had a great time and I was able to work with a lot of friendly and interesting people. A project lasting a year I will not easily forget.
