Designed and supervised construction of 10 major process reliability improvements and supported shutdown and start-up of the process block.• Presented daily troubleshooting recommendations to Operations, and contributed to design, maintenance, and improvement initiatives for a 70K barrel per day Fluid Catalytic Cracker. • Spearheaded program to reformulate catalyst properties and optimize 210 tons per week of catalyst feedstocks; improved plant operating margin by $21.9 MM per year.• Developed and supported execution of a multi-pronged mitigation strategy to effectively delay a reliability failure; enabled Operations to meet planned shutdown targets.Process Engineer: Hydrocracker, Continuous Catalytic Reformer, and H2 Plant• Transformed refinery philosophy for naphtha, benzene concentrate, and diesel routing; drove implementation of strategies worth $5.0 MM per year in enhanced diesel yield and $7.3 MM per year in improved gasoline pool volume.• Analyzed, recommended, and implemented change-out of reforming catalyst to enhance plant margin by $10.5 MM per year.• Lead process engineer for 2016 Hydrocracker turnaround, performed key maintenance and started up process without issues or delays. Associate Process Engineer: Diesel, Catalytic Gasoline, and Naphtha Hydrotreaters• Pioneered implementation of stringent operating guidelines for managing giveaway of sulfur product specifications in diesel and gasoline in order to minimize refinery loss of octane barrels and catalyst life valued at $1.5 MM per year.• Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) for Distillate Hydrotreater with collaboration between operations and process safety personnel to identify operating risks and validate accounting of safeguards against known failure modes.

• Investigated impact and fate of alkaline surfactant polymer produced crude oils in downstream refining through coalescing experiments and literature review to determine emulsion and fouling characteristics associated with enhanced oil recovery.

• FEED for Marathon Garyville Hydrocracker unit. Designed utilities system to supply purging and flushing requirements.

• Developed integrated pilot scale processing of jadarite ore with U.S. Borax Pilot Plant engineering team for scaling to full operations of deposit in Jadar, Serbia. Optimized milling, flocculation, filter pressing, and solvent extraction unit operations.
