I started off making and responding to the hourly calls to the emergency services - which once resulted in my writing two different splashes on the same day.Then after qualifying I became a patch reporter, where I was a given a new area in which to develop contacts and find news and features stories. Once it was established, I was moved on to another to do similar. I always carried a camera, and many of my own photographs were used to illustrate my articles.I also worked as the property reporter, covered the courts, ran a pub of the year campaign and took on the role of environment reporter.

I started off in the imaging department, creating cut outs, colour correction and other manipulation techniques using PhotoShop.Six months later I was promoted to advertising compositor using PhotoShop, Illustrator and QuarkXPress to design adverts for various clients to feature across our range of publications.Two years after that I moved into page design and layout on newspapers and magazines, including the Suffolk Business Magazine.
