Every day remarkable researchers are transforming our understanding of the world and how we can interact with it.While I can’t predict the future, it’s clear that advances in both fundamental science and translational science mean how we live in 10, 20 or 50 years will be dramatically different to how we live today.I find it incredibly exciting and inspiring to see stories about the researchers who are driving these transformations. But, unfortunately, we don’t hear about them enough. Too often research organisations are focused on a PR-approach. They talk about themselves instead of talking about their incredible work in a way that draws people in and captivates them. As a result, these organisations who are - literally - housing the people who are shaping our future don’t have visibility with the broader public.Over the past 15 years I’ve been working to change this.I believe that transforming how we talk about and share research and how we profile researchers plays a key role in building science literacy and engagement amongst all audiences. How educated you are shouldn’t impact how accessible, engaging or enticing stories of research are.As a highly experienced science publisher and communicator I have worked with over 50 organisations and hundreds of researchers to develop strategies and content that compel, inspire and engage audiences and importantly build the profile of researchers and research.
