With experience in the IT industry spanning almost 20 years across Australia and South East Asia, I have had the opportunity to explore many interesting areas. Primarily working with enterprise and consumer applications (development, testing, operations, delivery etc.), I have worked extensively in cloud (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS etc.); enterprise software integration and mobile video; premium content, and billing.People capital is the essence of any people manager. By practicing good hiring and people development, I built quality teams which easily scaled on the foundation of a culture of focus and cohesion. This saw me receive not only commendations for my people management skills but excellent 360 feedback with very high employee engagement.During my time at Telstra, I had the opportunity to be at the cutting edge of Cloud starting with a small two-man team supporting the T-suite product (SaaS platform with Microsoft Office 365). This small team soon developed into a geographically disperse, multi-vendor, multi-platform mixed culture group of more than 100 staff. Eventually responsible for the entire public cloud software stack, it brought exhilarating yet challenging experiences and personal growth opportunities.A key learning in my career is the importance of delivery choices on the success of any project. I have utilised both agile and traditional waterfall development extensively and believe strongly that decisions need to be made on each project what the best approach is to take so that a project is not harmed by following the status quo.Vendor Management is a particularly important component of delivery. In today's market, bridging the gap between internal staff and vendor staff to produce a homogeneous output is extremely important. I have been extensively involved in both the choice of vendor(s) and subsequent management to ensure that all parties are working to an aligned goal and I am comfortable working from both sides of the table.
