The theme for the 2024 Hackathon was a free choice software solution to a pertinent issue in the local community. Our group decided to create a platform for restaurants/food providers to donate leftover food and ingredients to food banks and shelters. Our online platform had the ability for food providers to display the food to be donated on a dashboard for charities to easily view and arrange pickups. Since food waste and food security are issues still prevalent in the nation and something we felt could be tackled in a local context.Experience gained:• Fullstack Development: Gaining hands-on experience with the MERN stack and understanding how different layers of technology stack interact. Mainly worked on HTTPS routing for the project and backend handling with Mongodb Atlas. Worked with JavaScript and ReactJS as the main development language. • API Integration: Learning to integrate various APIs like Google Maps and Spoonacular to enhance application functionality.• Collaborative Coding: Full working competency in using Github version management, as our codebase is entirely managed on Github.

Model United Nations is an academic simulation of the United Nations where students play the role of delegates from different countries and attempt to solve real world issues with the policies and perspectives of their assigned country. I was a senior member of Penrith Selective High School (Model United Nations Club) and Team Leader for my group’s assigned country, Canada. MUNA involved debating and proposing resolutions to real world issues such as the Ukraine Crisis, Sustainability and youth crime prevention etc. This involves high level analytical abilities and required me to speak in public forums, inter-school and intra-school competitions. Recently, I competed in a regional forum style competition placing 6/23 where I was required to research and represent Canada with my team.
