Responsible for the design of electrical protection and control systems for transmission and distribution systems with emphasis on quality and project costs following client’s requirements and internal company’s quality control and quality assurance practices.RESPONSIBILITIES:Development of complete engineering design packages for protective relaying and communications systems, including AC one-line and three-line diagrams, DC schematics, logic and functional diagrams, panel layouts, interconnection diagrams, relaying equipment specifications and bill of materials.Performs assignments independently with instruction as to the general results expected and with guidance from Director of Engineering and/or Lead Engineer on unusual or complex projects.Direct and/or participate in client meetings / job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering data.Assists with proposals to provide professional services or coordinate funding for engineering projects.Design substations utilizing applicable codes and client standards (if available).  Typical design to include general arrangement, equipment and electrical layout, elevation views, cable trench, grounding, conduit drawings, details, bills of material, and AC and DC power systems.Create equipment and material specifications for procurement of engineered equipment as well as development of design scope and cost estimates.Complete conceptual designs and layouts.Develop, nurture, and maintain trusted relationship with senior level engineers, managers, and executives with current or prospective clients.Confidently and comfortably present technical solutions to key customers.  Direct and/or participate in client meetings/job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering data.Perform/Ensure company’s Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC)Delegate, plan, prioritize and review the work of other engineers.Provide Project Management functions for projects.
