Rand Merchant Bank, Barclays Africa and Standard Bank collaborated and supported Thomson Reuters in establishing a central and simplified Know Your Customer (KYC) managed service for corporate clients. The Thomson Reuters KYC Service went live in July 2016 and is currently available to all Financial Institutions in South Africa.I managed the implementation of the KYC Service from a Rand Merchant Bank perspective. Key aspects of the project were:• Improving the client experience in all interaction with the bank and especially in the areas of compliance and KYC• Integrating the bank’s internal workflow systems with the KYC Service via an API (Application Program Interface)• Creating a plan to migrate existing clients to the KYC Service without negative impact on either client experience or existing internal processes
