The application being migrated is responsible for collecting electricity meter readings and distributing them to retailers. The client performs this duty for a large section of NSW, and the application plays a significant part in generating approximately 1 billion dollars of annual revenue. The application itself is highly complex and comprised of a mix of technologies including C++, Pro*C, Oracle PL/SQL, Perl, Make scripts, and UNIX shell scripts. While I was involved on the project, we were able to hit our major milestones months earlier than scheduled, resulting in considerable savings for the client. Before the migration project I worked for 2 years as a member of the Production Support and Maintenance team for a high availability application at one of Australia's largest telecommunications companies. The application is used as part of the client's credit management activities, and the team provides tier 3 support. In addition to supporting the application, I also helped to design, develop, and test new solutions, including performance testing. My specialty within the PS&M team was software development and analysis/reporting, which included the following tasks and responsibilities. - Solution design and implementation for new functionality - Presenting solutions to the client, as well as soliciting feedback - Investigating incidents, including ad-hoc data analysis through scripts and database queries. - Collaborating with other application teams to resolve issuesThe languages and technologies I frequently used in this role include. - Solaris - Java - Perl - KSH/Bash scripting - Websphere MQ - Control-M - Oracle SQL Plus and SQL Developer - Git Show less -
