About Alex Fenton

Alex is the CEO of Effer Ventures, which helps to build great staffing and recruitment businesses. In 2014, at 25, he founded GapCap, a fintech lender and grew it to a successful exit in 2019. GapCap was Alternative Lender of the Year in 2019 and lent over $500m to hundreds of UK SMEs prior to exit.Post-acquisition, as Group CEO, Alex led Growth Lending as it merged multiple businesses together, became accredited under the UK government CBILS scheme and raised over $75m in new funding, whilst successfully growing the funds in use by over 100% during the COVID-19 pandemic. After leaving Growth Lending, Alex is leading next business, Effer Ventures and sits on the board of a few growth businesses in finance and fintech.Alex graduated from the University of Bristol in 2011 and was part of the Young Guns Class of 2017.
