I’ve grown the capability of the industry leading and rapidly expanding WSP Transport Net Zero Team, operating nationally across the UK. Developing new capabilities in carbon appraisal and leadership in making carbon reduction part of business as usual in transport scheme development through the whole project life cycle. Providing quality analysis to inform decisions, so transport contributes to economic growth whilst minimising environmental impacts. Providing deep and diverse technical leadership across the transport business. I’ve led analysis for many transport improvement schemes, including multimillion pound projects. My modelling, economic and environmental appraisal expertise is solution focussed, informed by evidence and analysis to support strategic decisions. I’ve frequently influenced scheme planning to enable comprehensive and sustainable packages of improvements.I’ve advised many clients on maximising the value of transport investment, using understanding to shape business cases. I’ve challenged assumptions to create strong and defensible cases for investment to meet economic and environmental needs. My appraisal inputs have helped secure hundreds of millions of pounds of project funding. In Transport Planning, Traffic Engineering and Development Planning, I provided technical leadership, managed projects and co-ordinated inputs to ensure delivery of solutions. I worked effectively with stakeholders to progress projects, leading workshops, presenting options, gaining feedback, managing conflicting expectations, and leading the development of solutions providing multi-modal benefits. I delivered bus improvement and priority projects at all stages from inception to implementation, enabling safe, efficient and cost effective solutions combining infrastructure and technology. My skills in identifying traffic engineering solutions benefitted users with more reliable journey times. I developed a track record managing and leading production of successful project funding bids and supporting assessments. I led teams in assessing impacts of proposals and developed solutions to enable additional travel to be accommodated safely and efficiently. I oversaw the entire assessment process, using efficient analytical approaches to assess multiple scenarios, unlocking sites for hundreds of homes and significant commercial developmentsI assessed public transport, walking and cycling at proposed developments and along congested urban corridors. I used conventional and micro simulation modelling, completing and overseeing numerous models, including models incorporating public transport, local highways and motorways. I designed and implemented innovative traffic signal controlled solutions at many busy and strategically important junctions. I led teams developing designs including both MOVA and SCOOT, and developed unique responsive control solutions to minimise delay, maximise safety and integrate traffic control into strategic network management, benefiting all modes of travel.

I was a specialist in traffic and transportation planning and engineering, particularly the detailed design of traffic signal controlled junctions. I was also responsible for numerous feasibility studies and preliminary designs. I led teams developing detailed designs for new and improved traffic signal junctions including both MOVA and SCOOT. I provided a high level of expertise in the preparation of traffic signal controller specifications and the implementation and validation of MOVA, including on complex signal controlled roundabouts.I used my substantial experience in modelling traffic using both microsimulation and conventional techniques to develop great solutions. I extensively used traffic signal modelling tools including TRANSYT and LINSIG. He applies the understanding from modelling to design including the development of optimal control strategies. My high level of expertise in microsimulation modelling using VISSIM, enabled me to complete several large and innovative modelling projects as well as numerous smaller models.I took responsibility for managing projects and co-ordinating the input of a range of staff, including providing training, across various offices to ensure the delivery of solutions.
