Alinafe Kaliwo is a multiple award-winning innovator and tech entrepreneur focusing on bringing simple but vital technology products to African communities. He is the Managing Director at Mechro Limited in Malawi and a Co-Founder and CEO of Mechro Africa in South Africa. Mr Kaliwo developed a temperature monitoring system for mobile and stationary refrigeration assets branded ‘TempCras’. The project involves mounting wireless-powered sensors to transmit data to a central database, which is also accessed in real-time through a web portal and Android app. The system also sends SMS and email alerts to users when the temperature is higher than a set threshold. The system is already on the market in Malawi and is yet to be launched in South Africa. Alinafe is an expert in the Internet of Things (IoT), Telemedicine, mobile network communication technologies and engineering design. He holds a Master of Philosophy in Telecommunications Engineering and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Malawi. His vision is to expand his business empire, innovations and impact on the rest of the African continent.
