Akanksha is a planning professional with experience in the areas of integrated transit-land use planning, smart growth, neighborhood regeneration, green infrastructure, brownfields redevelopment, active transportation, multimodal integration and equitable development. She takes a collaborative and interdisciplinary approach to help communities transition to an equitable, resilient, and sustainable future.Her career has spanned across public, consulting and nonprofit sectors in US, Canada and India where she delivered a variety of master plans, long-range planning projects, policies, and guidelines working with multiple stakeholders and diverse communities. A key focus of her work has been on working with municipalities on delivering projects and policies oriented towards creating sustainable and transit oriented communities. These also specifically include a number of projects involving EPA Superfund sites to provide long-range planning direction towards environmental justice and remediation. Akanksha holds a master's in urban design from Carnegie Mellon University and is a current member of the American Planning Association with AICP accreditation and certified planner with Canadian Institute of Planning. Outside of work, Akanksha is passionate about sustainable living, food security, and healthy communites. She enjoys her time exploring farmers markets, cooking vegan meals, and hiking along trails and natural parks in and around the city.
