Associate Researcher

India

I am carrying forward my doctoral research work to gain deeper insights in the molecular basis of Autism and intellectual disability (ID). Additionally, I’m creating a cellular model of Huntingtin diseases to explore the therapeutic role of various small-molecule epigenetic modulators in HD pathophysiology. Furthermore, I'm screening marine compounds for their role in epigenetic processes, with a special emphasis on their usage as therapeutics in various diseases including cancer and neuropathologies.

Research Fellow

India

As a graduate student in molecular biology and neuroscience, I pursued my Ph.D. with Prof. Tapas K Kundu and Dr. James P. Clement, at JNCASR, India. My doctoral research was focused on investigating the therapeutic potential of a specific small molecule activator of lysine acetyltransferases p300/CBP for neurological disorders including AD, ID/ASD and depression. In another project during my doctoral research, I have also explored the potential biomedical applications of some of the inorganic frameworks. During my doctoral and postdoctoral research training, I gained proper expertise in mammalian cell culture, molecular biology techniques, and animal handling (genotyping, breeding, Oral/IP administration and behavioral studies). I am also well acquainted with cryosection, acute hippocampal slice preparation and electrophysiological recordings (extracellular). In collaboration projects with Prof. A. Sunderesan and Eswaramoorthy M., I became familiar with chemical biology, nanoparticles, structural and functional characterization of chemical compounds. Also, most of my projects during the doctoral work involved transcriptomic analysis, hence I have expertise in RNA work too including RNA-Seq sample preparation and data analysis. One of my ongoing projects is to map the underlying epigenetic mechanism associated synaptic plasticity and behavioral deficits in an ID mouse model to further improve the therapeutic efficiency of known/novel drugs. I wish to continue my research in molecular biology, neuroscience, and chemical biology field to exploit its full potential in developing diagnostics, drug delivery, novel therapeutics, and next-generation drugs/medicines against various human diseases.
