I have been coaching teachers, students and parents since 2012. It is amazing to see what people can do with 1-1 targeted support and effective goal setting sessions. Coaching is often confused with mentoring in education circles and it is crucial to be clear from the outset what the difference is.Briefly - mentoring is hierarchical- you are expected to do what the mentor shows you/tells you to do. When working with me in coaching, you are in charge- you decide what you will be doing and when. It is my role as your coach to ensure these are the most effective ways for you and that the goal is actually what you desire. Really enjoyed working as a consultant apprentice assessor with 27 enthusiastic teachers working towards their Master Teacher L3 and a Masters In Education with the University of Buckingham.

This week I led a course called "High Impact teaching ideas for GCSE Biology" through Creative Education. This was one of the comments I received by email today:"The course really was one of the most useful I have been on. I have already got my class to plan a starter for next lesson on the heart and will sharing ideas with my department today too!"The other courses I have led: 1. 'Creating a Positive Culture' a one day course run by Creative Education. Mark attended this course and commented that Amanda was a very informative, well resourced and a knowledgeable presenter. He graded Amanda as outstanding in terms of knowledge and experience, communicating ideas and providing practical strategies and creative ideas. 2. 'Teaching A' Level Biology for the First time' run by Creative Education K felt this course gave her lots of ideas and confidence to get started in September M did not realise how useful examiners could be! 3. 'The First year in a Science Department' run by Creative Education M stated the course was extremely helpful with very insightful techniques to assist teaching in science. Excellent course resources and course leader. 4.' Raising standards through the mentoring of Young people' course run by Creative Education A found the course to have given lots of examples and practical strategies to try out5. 'Raising achievement for Year 8' J said the course was informative, relevant and up to date. J will take several strategies straight back to school to implement.6.' Becoming outstanding- a course for NQT's in science' M said the course we just what I needed with lots of good strategies which I can implement tomorrow.7. 'Developing the role of Pastoral Support Assistants'S said she would be trying out the Cycle of Change work with her intervention group this week.8. 'Becoming a successful leader in Science'J developed a checklist of how to evaluate his department and create an action plan

I was responsible for NQT, ITT and GTP programmes in the school and also delivered several training presentations for the Local Authority on Behaviour Management. I devised an NQT training handbook which was adopted by the Local Authority. Recruitment was also part of my remit and I was complemented by Ofsted on the processes used.I became the Deputy Headteacher responsible for Progress and Quality as well as behaviour management, attendance, primary liaison, parent liaison and community events.
