I started my professional career at the age of 18 as a high school graduate after being hired as a Customer Sales Executive in my very first interview. The only marketable qualification I had then was that I could speak fluent German, which was not a widely spoken foreign language in Sri Lanka. Over the next few years, I worked as a sales executive and then as a travel consultant and my pursuits took me to Germany, where I traveled and worked part time for two years. During this time, I gathered many valuable insights and experiences about European culture and people which further fueled my passion for traveling. After returning to Sri Lanka, I enrolled in a degree in Software Engineering and graduated in the midst of the pandemic with a new found love for developing and testing software applications, especially in innovative fields like Data Science, ML and AI. I am particularly fond of constructing application logic irrespective of the platform/end-user of the software and I gladly identify as a pure backend developer.When I have time, I still conduct online German classes, a hobby I began as a side hustle during the COVID lockdowns!
