Akeya Fortson-Brown has been fascinated by entrepreneurship since she was 10 years old. It all started in 2010 with a clothing repair service (Sew, Stitch, & More), which gave her the hands-on experience of owning, launching, and running a start-up business early. From there, she fell in love with the process of developing and executing business strategies that can take a brand from "unheard of" to the go-to solution for a community of people. Throughout that experience, she learned that the key to success in any venture, campaign, initiative, or project is to listen closely and connect to real human experiences. All the lessons that she's learned from 10+ years of entrepreneurial experimentation and experience combined with her formal education have allowed her to develop her creative eye and marketing expertise. To take it even further, Akeya has been able to use her skills and talents to fuel her passions, which are helping others and serving as a community advocate. She currently sits on Tha Block Trenton's Board of Directors as the organization's Director of Marketing & Fundraising Initiatives (and she LOVES it). She's been invited to speak at The College of New Jersey, to teach a marketing lesson on Mya Nichol's IG University, featured on several podcasts, and more.
