Meet Akif, a passionate researcher on a mission to empower family firms and business families by studying family governance and how it can be employed more effectively. Through his research at the Research Center for Entrepreneurship and Family Firms (RCEF), Hasselt University and working together with VKW Limburg, the independent employers' organization where many family businesses feel at home, Akif is faced with the unique challenges and opportunities that arise within family-owned enterprises looking to navigate complex transitions, build strong relationships, and achieve long-term success. But for Akif, this work is more than just a job - it's a personal passion. Having grown up in a family business himself, he knows first-hand the unique challenges and rewards that come with running a family-owned enterprise. That's why Akif is personally engaged as a practitioner, researcher and advisor, to help family firms and business families achieve their goals and realize their dreams.
