During my studies, as a working placement I was able to join Aircraft Engineering wing of Sri Lanka Air Force, where the major overhaul of Jets and Helicopters are taking place. I was able to gain knowledge in various bays. I was allocated tasks on a rotational basis in the Engine Bay, Electrical and Instrument bay, Structural bay, Component bay, NDT lab and was involved in the maintenance programmes for the helicopter squadron and fighter squadron. At engine bay I was exposed to overhaul of gas turbine engines, inspecting components and assemblies, balancing components and assemblies. At NDT lab I went through the conducting of non-destructive tests such as X-Ray, Magnetic particle inspection, eddy current, etc. for aircraft components. I had training sessions in Aircraft Maintenance, Human Resource and Management and Safety Analysis.
