* Summer trainee at Dokuz Eylul University, Department of Medical Genetics (1998),* Summer trainee at Ege University, Medical School, Department of Pediatrics, Genetics Laboratory (2000 and 2001), * European Society of Human Genetics, and European Genetics Foundation course on Genetics Counselling (2000),* Conducted a 3 year research period in Bilkent University, Dpt of Mol Biol Genetics, on molecular genetics of breast cancer.* Performed my PhD studies at Univ. of Illinois (Chicago), Dpt of Chemistry, on molecular biology and biochemistry. This research was mainly focused on protein Spectrin, which is an important cellular protein that has initially been identified as a part of the cytoskeleton. However, afterwards, several important cellular functions have been attributed to Spectrin (either in tetrameric or isoform form). I am currently working on proteins interacting with the brain isoform of the spectrin protein (with its different isoforms), that might have influence in regulating the tetramerization of these isoforms.* Besides research, have been working as the Teaching Assistant Coordinator of the General Chemistry Classes (in Chemistry Department) since 2007. Working with 30-50 Teaching Assistants and their students (each TA has around 50 students). Coordination of weekly experiments. Management of safety rules and regulations and all other day-to-day operations.* My research goal has been to work on Molecular Genetics of Psychiatric conditions, since 1997. My interest in this field has started when I was in high school and preparing for the country wide biology olympics.
