Currently, I am the Project Director - Data Use Partnership for Ethiopia (Workstream 3). I lead a team of Designers working to prototype scalable strategies that will enhance data use culture in health facilities in Ethiopia. This four-year program will use Behavioral Science and Human-centered Design methodologies to increase the perceived value of data by health service providers, health information technicians, and health facilities’ management teams.

In this role, I led the delivery of immersive research and prototyping activities in multiple African countries, including an extensive behavioral research exercise in Malawi, focused on uncovering the cognitive factors that influence the uptake of antenatal care (ANC). I designed a portfolio of innovative, participatory research tools anchored on multiple stimuli methods - winning the 2022 Core 77 Design awards (https://designawards.core77.com/Strategy-Research/113456/Generating-Behavioral-Insights-Using-Rapid-Research-Approaches) Additionally, I participated in large-scale projects in Nigeria, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Tanzania to understand what influences hygiene practices such as latrine usage and face and hand washing. During this period, I also worked with the World Food Program in Ethiopia to build an evidence base of the drivers of consumption of nutrient-dense foods and with UNICEF ESARO to prepare a training module that aims to build the capacity of UNICEF and UNFPA Program managers to identify social, design responsive programs, and measure social norm change.

My role as a Strategic designer entailed leading teams to conceptualize and execute high-quality ethnographic research and prototyping activities. I worked with Ipas Africa Alliance to uncover insights and prototypes that today inform how sexual and reproductive health services are delivered. I built a concrete understanding of what it means to design for adolescent girls, young women, and first-time and experienced mothers.

As a Strategy & Planning Associate, I supported the business development function at Redhouse Group. This involved keeping an eye and ear on the ground for new business opportunities and supporting internal teams to deliver Communication strategies that are responsive to the dynamic Integrated Marketing & Communication sector.
