My main task was making piping and equipment modifications to convert the existing 1-stage flash skid to an advanced flash stripper. The job was largely hands-on, working with tools to assemble pipe flanges, install and wire up instrumentation, and other very applied and practical chemical engineering. Alternative responsibilities were to perform tests on a small-scale project to minimize reflux for steam. It was a prototype to reclaim the carbon capture substance the facility focused on, piperazine. In addition to troubleshooting this system, I was also doing requisition/purchase orders with the finance department and sourcing steel locally. I had some exposure to SketchUp, a 3D rendering program, for generating fabrications/layouts and making modifications to the facility itself.
