After being connected by one of the Buildasign.com founders, I helped this small company grow by improving the e-commerce website with features that increased AOV and conversion. Also developed a barcode scanner system to get rid of the paper manifest that had to travel with the orders through the mfg facility. Implemented realtime KPI boards in the offices and warehouse.

Startup for location-based apps and services. Initial product was a realtime multi-user map. Tech worked great but the timing was poor as during this time there was a lot of concern about phones "tracking you" and the privacy issues that many large websites faced led to a lot of investor uncertainty.

This led to "trading heads" between teams where folks would lobby to have another group fire an extra person so they could fire one less...not for me. I really care about helping each person on the team grow.

Pre-Vistaprint acquisition; Led the engineering teams and IT as the company grew from $7M/year to $100M/year in revenue.Quite a fun time of relentless growth and tech scaling. From a single webserver in Rackspace to cloud-based+scalable systems. Learned a ton due to steady growth and 10x Cyber Monday traffic spikes. I was able to architect quite a few novel systems at the time and really enjoyed the teams we built.

Medical staffing software...we processed over $100M/year in gig economy for nurses (before we had the term gig-economy). Wasn't quite that simple as you might imagine with certifications, HIPPA, and myriad laws, but you get the idea.

Interesting anecdote: In 2006 Google reached out and flew me to HQ in order to visit and share tech stories with (what would eventually become) their Docs team. They would go on to release Google Sites in 2008.
