Associate Professor
CurrentOwner/Structural Engineer
CurrentAknu is a comany that I have founded myself. The focus of the company is to assist costumers in the process of creating sound structures in steel. More specifically I make sure that the technical requirements to strength, stiffness etc. are fulfilled. The projects that I work on range from small and simple steel balconies to advanced offshore steel structures that require lots of finite element analysis. After joining forces with my current partner in Byg & Beregn, I have decided to put my activities in Aknu on hold.
Specialist
Assistant/Associate Professor
At SDU I have been responsible for planning and execution of semester courses. My courses are (have been):- Design of steel structures (two courses, 5+5 ECTS)- Finite element analysis (5 ECTS)- Statics and mathematics (20 ECTS)It is my responsibility to design the courses in such a way that the topics I include in the courses are relevant to the industry we send our engineers into. I also need to make sure that my courses fit well with the other courses which together with my courses constitute the civil engineering eduction.Apart from my engagement in the semester courses I also supervise final project students.
Project Engineer And Team Lead
At DONG Energy I was part of the secondary steel group within the offshore design department. Here I did many jobs which included a lot of steel design and a lot of finite element analysis. Some of the more interesting jobs I did was:- Development and analysis of a new concept for a boat landing structure- Analysis of ship impact consequences (explicit finite element analysis)- Non-linear instability analysis of wind tower in a door hole section. After approximately one year at DONG Energy I was appointed team lead of the secondary steel group. My new roles, as team lead, included:- Distribution of tasks within the group.- Knowledge development and knowledge sharing within the group.- Being part of the steering committee for the offshore design department.- Working for improved collaboration with partner departments.
Project Engineer
In my first period (less than a year) in Ramboll I was part of an oil/gas-department with focus on seabed pipelines. One of the more interesting jobs I did in this period was analysis of a pipeline during the installation process. This work included a little steel design and a lot of finite element analysis. After my oil/gas-engagement I moved to a department with focus on onshore structures. Here I applied a broad range of skills: Design of steel-, concrete- and timber-structures and finite element analysis. Some of the projects I was engaged in:- FLS Cement Factory in Russia: Design and modelling of conveyor bridges in steel- SEB-Bank in Copenhagen: Analysis of curvy concrete decks (finite element analysis)- Shell Refinery: Fatigue evaluation of an existing bolted steel flare tower. In my third year in Ramboll I contributed to the design of several offshore wind farms. In general this work included a lot of steel design and finite element analysis. I have especially contributed to the design of secondary steel compenents for Belwind Offshore Wind Farm outside the coast of Belgium. Some of the compentes I designed here was:- Boat landing- External platform- Airtight platformIn addition to design of new steel structures I also evaluated existing steel structures within older wind farms. In the old wind farms there were some potential problems with structures that didn't act as inteded. Due to this there was a fatigue risk which I evaluated.
Instructor
During the spring-semester of 2007, which was also my last semester as a student at DTU, I acted as an instructor in the course named "Dynamics of structures". Here I did my best to help students working with course assignments and smaller projects.
Student Assistant
During the last year of my education at DTU I worked part-time as a student assistant at Ramboll. Here I mostly did quality assurance of design conducted by my colleagues. One of the more interesting jobs I conducted was a pre-design top section in steel for a high-rise building in London..
Student Assistant
In my summer vacations of 2005 and 2006 I worked full time as a student assistant at Moe & Brødsgaard. In between the summer vacations I work part-time. This was the first time I used my skills, learned at DTU, on real projects. More of my jobs here included design of steel structures. Amongst the more interesting projects I took part in was:- Amsterdam-inspired block house at Sluseholmen in Copenhagen- Metropolis, 10-storey house at Sluseholmen in Copenhagen
