About Amanda Rajala
In my current role as a Habitat Restoration Technician my job mainly focuses on the removal of invasive species. I have also had the opportunity to assist in creating youth urban camping programs that encompass values and awareness of Indigenous culture. Simultaneously, as one of the founders of Kernow Conservation, I am supporting the team remotely by creating social media posts, and completing funding applications. My main interests lie in community and restoration ecology - particularly in the effects of anthropogenic/natural forces on populations and how that translates at larger scales of biological organisation.

Landscaper
Floor Staff/Manager
Hall Leader/Server
Due to previous experience as a trainer, I learned and developed quickly in the role and eventually became a leader. As a leader my duties included training new employees and being responsible for the floor staff of that shift and reporting any problems to the manager. Not only did I help my Japanese colleagues improve their English, and thus communication with guests, but my Japanese language skills also improved immensely.
English Babysitter
I was a babysitter whose main job was to introduce and converse in English with children anywhere from 2-10 years in a non-stressful and comfortable environment. The way each child was to learn was dictated by the goals of the parents, but through consistent discussion of progress with each parent we would modify and adapt to how the child was doing.
