- Knowledge of Signalling standards and protocols (SS7, SCTP, SIP, etc.)- Develop the first data analysis tool which BT used for troubleshooting, capacity planning and ensuring resiliency on the signalling network. Good feedback received and still in use after more than a year.

Maldives

- Had work in a team of 3 people to design a complaint management system using MSSQL and .NET framework (C#) (Since I was new to C# and SQL, I was working mostly in assisting and UI design)- Learned to work with different departments as I had to work with both legal and IT department to fulfill their requirements.

Maldives

- Only IT person in the company, managing a network of about 30 computer systems, domain server and file server. I was also managing the RFID systems in place.- When I joined, IT was outsourced, which was a problem for security and integrity reasons. There were several problems with configurations of routers and server. Also, access to file system was not managed well.- Due to all these problems, main task was to reconfigure all IT equipment and servers and to write an IT procedure from scratch to solve these problems an ensure they on’t happen again.- I also helped others make their work easier by giving short tutorials on MS Excel and how to print. Also helped other staff with Excel functions.

During the short time, the main work that was carried out here was to help the staff make annual report and also a report of past 5 years since Telecommunication in Maldives was opened to more parties. I had to go through hard copies of letters for 5 years, find the changes in rates of services and prepare a report on how the server prices has gone down since other parties came into service.

- I was able to work here in every department, though more than 6 months was in Network Operations Center (NOC). During this time, I learned a large part of CCNA in my own time using Computer Based Training videos bought by the company.- In a team of 5 people, we were managing Government Network of Maldives. I was mostly at helpdesk solving problems when a government company calls in case of a network issue. On one incident a ministry network went offline and had to work about 12 hours with almost no break.- The first task at NCIT was to make an Excel based coded sheet to work out the monthly financial statements for the company. I had to work with the Finance department to fully understand how these statements are created. The Excel sheet determines which category each financial record should go and automatically create the monthly statement required. Though I wanted to make a better program using Access, due to time constraints, I had to stick with Excel and finished it in a week. I gained lot of experience in working as a team and under time pressure.- During my time in projects department, which consisted of 3 people, the project manager had to take maternity leave. My colleague and I had to make our own decisions, divide and manage projects ourselves. During this time, I got insight into making business critical decisions. I also had to deal with other company representative on behalf of the company, for which I am proud that people recognized me as easy to communicate and work with.

- This was my first real job, which I took during the free 7 months that I got between finishing my O level and starting A Level studies.- Most of the work was administrative – replying to letters and answering calls. But I also worked in making bid proposals and going to bid meetings on behalf of the company. I also helped with IT related issues.
