Dr. Akram Sheikh is the founding Co-Chair of Global Think Tank Network, based in the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad. The vision guiding GTTN is the provision of knowledge-based inputs to the processes of national socio-economic development and collaboration with domestic and international knowledge-creating organizations for building common understanding to achieve common goals of peace, prosperity, and harmony. Dr. Sheikh brings a wealth of experience to GTTN for the realization of its vision. Dr. Akram Sheikh has held the important post of Federal Minister / Deputy Chairman Planning Commission of Pakistan. He has also served as Federal Secretary of the Ministries of Communication, Water & Power, and Industries & Production. He has headed some of Pakistan’s largest public sector industrial establishments including State Engineering Corporation (SEC), Pakistan Steel Mills and Heavy Mechanical Complex (HMC). Dr. Sheikh is currently Professor Emeritus at NUST, and Advisor (Planning and Development) to a few strategic national organizations in addition to being Advisor to the International Steels Limited, a Pakistani multinational joint venture. He is also the founding Co-Chair of NUST Corporate Advisory Council (CAC), the university body dedicated to intensifying university-industry interaction for promoting entrepreneurship and innovation.
