In SYL, I worked in a full-time executive board, with social policy, communications and environment & climate policy as my responsibilities. The everyday work involved lobbying politicians and stakeholders, project management, creating campaigns, organizing and participating events and seminars and communicating to the local actors and stakeholders. With our broad political and economical network we promote the interests of Finnish university students both in Finland and abroad.I met over 70 parliament members during and achieved concrete results during the year. Some of them: permanent raise of students annual income limit, several millions of mental health resources for YTHS, international students inclusion in the D-visa, highly increased media visibility and social media statistics.SYL is an interest organization representing 132 000 students in all universities in Finland with 7 full-time board members and 11 full-time employees. The role of SYL is to defend and improve the educational, financial, and social benefits and rights of the students. In addition to being an interest organization SYL has striven to take a role of a socially influential organization on a wider scale and an active public debater in student related political discussions.

In my part-time work (20h/month) I was especially interested in subjects regarding advocacy, student visibility and organizational development. YKA has 12 500 members.

I served my mandatory military service as a Conscript Musician at Kaartin Soittokunta, the most prestigious and globally known Finnish professional military orchestra. After the two months long basic military training, we spent seven months working as basically full-time musicians, forming our own conscript musician band, training at Finlandia-talo. Our responsibilities also included some office work, and assisting the professional musicians of the orchestra.My main instrument was singing, and also some piano playing. Over the course of those seven months, we had over 70 gigs. Our most prestigious gig was the biggest Finnjamboree festival ever held, Roihu 2016, where we performed for over 17 000 people.
