Summer School Ambassador 2022/23:I collaborated with 40-70 ambassadors during summer school 22 and 23 to provide an engaging and informative experience for Y12 students considering higher education. As a team, we managed the daytime and evening activities which consisted of academic and non-academic lectures and extra-curricular activities respectively. We actively observed participants addressing problems related to lack of engagement or comfortability and quickly resolved any issues that occurred. We promoted the university and our departments of interest and answered any questions regarding the university with honesty. Presented several 'Engineering Excellence' awards to students in front of 200-350 students, ambassadors and staff pushing myself out of my comfort zone. Widening participation (WP) ambassador: Reviewed Y13 personal statements providing high-level-of-attention feedback to help propel their applications for university. In addition, I worked with a Medicine partner to conduct and review mock interviews for prospective Medicine students providing criticism with presentation and verbal skills. Finally, I collaborated with several WP ambassadors to ensure the winter reunion was managed smoothly. My role was to encourage engagement in the delegated break-out room.office work

Research title: To determine if the concept of unitisation would be successful in the application of composite stiffenersI spent the summer researching, manufacturing and testing composite stiffeners optimising for primary properties such as load displacement, buckling and young modulus. The research was done to design the shape, size, orientations, and layers of the stiffener and the appropriate material that was required for the mould. Once the research phase was complete, several materials were available for the mould which provided us with the opportunity to verify the appropriate material. One month was spent on manufacturing 20 composite stiffeners with one of three assembly configurations which included. Co-curing (with/without foam)Co-bonding (with/without foam)Secondary bonding Testing was completed using 4-point bending and results were promising.
