My tenure at Fortescue represents my career transition from an automotive industry role into a role in the mining heavy machinery industry. Our team is responsible for developing and testing a range of technologies to power FMGs mining fleet. As a member of Fortescue’s infinity train team, I am responsible for the design and development of the infinity trains.Key achievements:• Used NX to create CAD assemblies and design new parts for multiple concepts.• Oversaw the verification of CAD part data and assembly conditions before release for manufacturing.• Identified features within NX that allowed parts designs to be easily and efficiently modified and improved.• Created high-quality digital data, drawings, and detailed CAD assemblies to meet parts engineering and design criteria and meet regulatory requests.• Collaborated with cross-functional teams to develop and implement process changes.

• Produced comprehensive feasibility studies to allow leaders/customers to assess the viability of differing aerodynamic designs against vehicle requirements whilst maintaining stability and evaluating against regulatory requirements and safety standards.• Thrived in a forward-facing role, consistently delivering optimal outcomes for customers through review of schematics and succinct and precise systems installation information.• I analyse existing designs and make necessary modifications to address operating deficiencies. These adjustments aim to improve functionality and reduce production-related issues.

• Prepared schematic designs utilizing engineering principles and advanced mathematical concepts to ensure accurate and efficient solutions, liaising with internal teams to facilitate collaboration across design, production, research, and documentation efforts.• Utilized Unigraphics to design, create, and test production models for industrial processes, ensuring alignment with project objectives and quality standards.• Took responsibility for workplace safety by conducting regular workspace inspections of P.P.E and equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards.

This position required strict time management as the project had very tight delivery dates. This role also demanded a customer service focus, as our clients expected daily updates on the status of project progress.Key achievements:• Developed detailed design drawings and specification for mechanical equipment dies and controls using CAD.• Communicated project requirements and areas for improvements in design review meetings with team members.• I design and develop new products according to customer requirements, ensuring timely delivery.• Conducted thorough pre-start checks of design equipment and tools to ensure optimal working condition, promptly identified and reported defects, safety concerns, or maintenance requirements, and consistently complied with pre-start checklists and safety protocols.
