FellowTeach For India Jun 2018 - Apr 2020Mumbai, Maharashtra, In- As part of my fellowship I had the opportunity to teach Science, Social and English to 150 kids in a government high school in Pulianthope, Chennai. The community I teach is one of the high risk communities with the highest number of juvenile crimes reported in Taminadu. Following are some of my accomplishments during the fellowship. - Strategised and raised an amount of Rs.1.7 lakhs towards classroom infrastructure, setting up a technology classroom and a library. The library currently has over 240 books for readers across reading levels! - Partnered with around 20 organisations during the course of two years to bring in multiple opportunities for the students in the areas of arts, olympiads, personal and mental wellbeing, sports and other extra curricular activities. - Created technology solutions, where assessment facilitation, evaluation and analysis was done seamlessly , which was time efficient and helped in understanding student learning levels which in turn helped in planning differentiated learning plans and also saved around 150+ man hours of time. - Facilitated tech based learning which aggregated growth in digital literacy levels, deepened the understanding of science, reading level improvements (readworks.org, readtheory.org) , writing (quill,org) and math (TuxMath, KhanAcademy and Jungroo Learning) - Introduced fundamentals of Computer Science, Basics of algorithms and computational thinking and Introduction to Scratch and Microbit to students which increased their problem solving and critical thinking skills. - Part of the core organising team of Chennai Students Kondattam (CSK) where I took the lead for Finance and created strategies for fundraising for the event. CSK is TeachForIndia Chennai's largest event where 3000+ children participate in over 30+ competitions from 40 + different schools.- Was invited to be a part of UNESCO TECH Conference in Visakhapatnam during 10-12 December,2019. -
