Aksheyaa Akilan, Director/Founder of Hibiscus Foundation for Social Welfare (HFSW) and Hibiscus Counselling, is a Psychology Graduate and Human Rights Major, who identifies as a Global Health and Human Rights Advocate. She is also a special educator for children with learning disabilities. She has also worked in de-addiction and rehabilitation centres to cater to persons with addiction disorders. She's also the Director of Blue Silicon InfoTech, an Information and Communications Technology which is the parent company of Question Cloud, an EdTech platform and JobsLink, an employment portal. She is a former intern of the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), and the World Health Organization's (WHO) - Global Coordination Mechanism for Non-Communicable Diseases and Mental Health (GCM/NCD) and the Tamil Nadu State Human Rights Commission (SHRC).Aksheyaa Akilan’s work has reached 80,000+ individuals, and she continues to positively impact people globally. Youth, women, children, persons with disabilities and marginalised communities have benefited from the work of her organisations, particularly through health, and legal services. Her project under HFSW ‘Health for All’ has impacted people via awareness workshops, pro-bono mental health services, no tobacco campaigns, substance use, and abuse awareness campaigns, and medical services. People including women, children, and minority groups from across the subcontinent have been directly impacted by her ‘Stand Up 4 Human Rights’ project providing human rights legal consultation, research, and awareness workshops. Hibiscus Foundation being the UNWomen Generational Equality Action Coalition Commitment Maker works on conducting gender awareness workshops, gender-based violence webinars, and media campaigns on gender equality in turn aiming to shatter patriarchy in all age groups. Furthermore, over 30,000+ people have had access to free educational resources for children and young adults through her organisation QuestionCloud, wherein Aksheyaa and her team look to make available accessible and affordable tools. Similarly, one of her other organizations, JobsLink, Aksheyaa, and her team work towards narrowing the bridge between layoffs and those seeking employment with a platform that consists of 1250+ recruiters and impacts 10,000+ job seekers.
