My past experience in police stations as a police and court interpreter provided me with the opportunity to witness and understand the critical role that legal representatives and solicitors play in ensuring justice for all parties in need of representation. Therefore, I decided to follow this path and trained to be an accredited Police Station Representative.

I spent many months in a North London college and trained to be an official interpreter and translator. I took the DPSI exams organised by the Institute of Linguists in June 1998 and gained my Diploma in Public Service Interpreting the same year. My details were subsequently included in various official lists of public service of interpreters, such as NRPSI.I gained many years of experience interpreting and translating assignments. I worked in various fields, including business and - particularly interesting to me - the English legal system.I attended many court hearings (including at the Central Criminal Court aka Old Bailey), interpreting in various criminal cases, and many police stations, interpreting and translating in police matters (such as PACE interviews and witness statements). I enjoyed assisting police officers, defence barristers, prosecutors and non-English speaking public members who had limited knowledge of the English legal system. I took the Metropolitan Police Test in November 2003 and my details were subsequently entered into the Official List of Police Interpreters of Scotland Yard in January 2004.
