Mercedes-Benz Connectivity Services (MBCS) finds itself on the edge of becoming an essential vessel for Daimler to sell digital products to business clients (B2B) as well as end consumers (B2C). The core business comprises connectivity services offered via the proprietary ‘connect business’ solution enabling real-time based, predictive vehicle and fleet management. Additionally, new digital product and service development initiatives are partnering up with MBCS to market and sell their offer, such as an app for fueling enabling mobile payments or a platform providing and selling car data via an open API to enterprise customers.In my role as project manager and product owner e-payment, billing and accounting solutions I take on the responsibility to design, to build and to run a payment platform with corresponding processes and SAP accounting integration for MBCS which meets the demand of today’s and future digital business models for efficient, scalable and secure payment processing. As project lead I manage and oversee the entire solution design and agile implementation process, managing the stakeholders from business side same as the whole delivery flank including the own development team, payment and accounting service providers and Daimler partner organisations.

Daimler started as part of its mobility and digitization strategy with „Mercedes pay“ its own initiative towards electronic payment services allowing customers to easily and securely pay for mobility offerings and services using their smart phones or doing in-vehicle payments. With its own digital payment platform including an eWallet system Mercedes pay is able to offer customers mobile payment services, e-money solutions, cryptocurrencies and voucher and loyalty solutions. Those digital payment services are becoming more crucial in the automotive industry as they enable the expansion of emerging businesses as car sharing or short-term car rentals.As part of Daimler Mobility Services Payment Team my role as Key Account Manager and Project Manager is to lead Daimler companies globally through the process of implementing the ePayment solution within their business. As project lead I am guiding project teams and third parties through all phases starting from onboarding new merchants, designing the specific payment solution, development, intensive testing, going live and handover to operations. As project manager I am being hold accountable that the overall payment solutions (including SAP sub ledger accounting) fits the clients’ business model and the diverse regulatory requirements on international ground.

One-year onsite project engagement in one of U.K.‘s biggest change programmes in the financial service sector (payment services) dealing with the digital transformation of the cheque clearing process throughout the entire U.K. banking industry. Cheques are still a very common and popular payment method in the U.K. though the operational costs to process those payments are relatively high compared to other payment schemes. The programme objective was to build, deploy and run a secure IT solution that speeds up the cheque clearing process and decreases the costs on operational side.In this context my responsibilities included, inter alia, the structuring and coordination of the programme management office (PMO) team, implementation of client-specific PM processes, alignment on and coordination/tracking of timelines, deliverables, dependencies, risks and issue resolution across all project leads and with the client’s programme management, bottom-up internal management reporting and progress reporting towards the client, and supporting the setup and establishment of an adequate quality management.

Involvement in a long-term, large scale client programme in the public sector dealing with the complex relocation of an entire data centre (encompassing ca. 1.200 servers and affecting more than 40.000 users), centralising all IT service office locations to a new site (relocating ca. 700 workplaces) plus equipping the new facilities with a fully renewed network infrastructure.Project responsibilities included, inter alia, the build-up and coordination of a project management office involving up to four team members, implementation of standard project management processes (planning, controlling, reporting, risk management, procurement, communication), managing a complex stakeholder landscape across the entire client organisation, coordination of overall planning across all involved projects and external parties, supporting directly the implementation (concepts, as-is business analysis, coordination of relocation), quality assurance, establishing best practices and lessons learned in other client projects.

Project coordination and support during a highly critical transition phase of an application management outsourcing endeavor for a big German car manufacturer. The scope was to take over SAP application management services (AMS) in the aftersales business plus to establish ITIL standard processes for operations. Moreover, the AMS solution involved a global delivery model integrating several offshore locations.Project support during the bidding phase of various IT tenders for AMS outsourcing mainly in the automotive industry (volume range from €10-120 Mio.); Responsibilities among others: business case/cost calculation, risk management, coordination of solution design with a global delivery approach, alignment with offshore delivery centers, project reporting.Evaluation and strategic advisory of external clients regarding outsourcing of application management; Business case analysis including potential cost levers and savings.Development and implementation of measures to improve the company’s price competitiveness in IT tenders for application management services (AMS) outsourcing (Master Thesis Project).
