About Al-Amin Saheed Babatunde
Beyond words and guided by the 'I-CARE' principles, I am one of the brightest brains to have emerged from the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA). Nigeria's most prestigious technical university and indeed, the nation's pride. I astutely adapt to transitional work landscapes, always leveraging on the most demanding objectives. Beyond professional advancements, I have developed cost-effective geospatial approaches; that are highly suggested for Ondo State, Southwest Nigeria's coastal regions. The very susceptible areas of Awoye, Aiyetoro, Ajapa and Apata are clearly visible; in these areas, the established flood risk maps now currently function as a vital source of activation energy for disaster preparedness and susceptibility mitigation. In order to assist international and environmental agencies such as the United Nations (UN), these techniques have adopted environmentally responsible geo-processes in line with the European Union's (EU) Flood and Water Framework Directives. These have allowed me to achieve a 98.31% flood risk prediction with a further indication of a 40% higher risk of inundation in crucial areas, benefiting Ilaje's local population of 289,838. These insights directly aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Global Goals 11 and 13; the urgent action to combat climate change and building sustainable solutions for communities. Thus, in addition to prioritising Early-Warning Systems (EWS) in disaster forecasting as demonstrated through digitalization in other parts of the world, my combinations of Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) model, Frequency Ratio (FR) and advanced Machine Learning (ML) techniques, specifically Random Forest (RF) and Extreme Gradient Boost (XGBoost) have yielded community-centric paradigms for vulnerability assessments in Nigeria.

Geospatial Analyst (Siwes)
I immersed myself in an extensive series of training modules focused on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing, significantly enriching my understanding of cutting-edge technologies. This rigorous training bolstered my proficiency in various GIS software applications, thereby enhancing my spatial analysis capabilities. I acquired advanced skills in data acquisition, processing, and interpretation, enabling me to handle complex spatial datasets with ease. Furthermore, I played a pivotal role in crafting technical presentations and proposals, demonstrating my ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences. I gained experience in visualizing spatial data, creating compelling maps and graphics, and delivering insightful analyses that informed decision-making processes.A notable highlight of my academic journey at NSRDA was spearheading the development of my B.Tech. undergraduate project. This project involved the application of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence techniques to address real-world challenges. Specifically, I focused on the Flood Vulnerability Mapping of Ilaje, Ondo State, in Southwest Nigeria. This project required extensive data collection and analysis, where I employed various machine learning algorithms to predict flood-prone areas accurately. The integration of AI tools allowed for the development of a sophisticated model that significantly improved the accuracy and reliability of the flood risk assessment.• Project Highlights: Comprehensive Flood Vulnerability Mapping of Ilaje, Ondo State, Southwest Nigeria Utilising Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. This project involved detailed spatial data analysis, advanced machine learning algorithms, and the application of AI techniques to produce a high-precision flood risk map. The outcomes of this project have practical implications for disaster management and mitigation strategies in flood-prone regions.
