Our agency recently created a new Risk Management Officer position which is a great fit for my education, training, and experience, so I decided to apply for this promotional opportunity, and I was fortunate enough to be awarded the position effective 8-25-14. My work will initially focus on employee safety to help reduce our department's workers compensation costs, but the responsibilities will likely eventually evolve to include other areas of risk management within our department. I'm especially pleased to have the opportunity to utilize my professional knowledge and skill from my previous career experiences to help our agency maintain safe work environments for all of our employees, which will help reduce injuries, help reduce the operational costs for our department/state, and which will ultimately help us better serve our veterans.

I enjoyed my experience as an Outreach Specialist with WDVA and will actually miss the activities of that position which included connecting with Veterans by being out and about at various Veterans Events across the State, and I will especially miss my involvement with Veterans employment intiatives as I believe that is one of the most important issues that Veterans face today. However, in July 2013 I learned of another opportunity within our Department where I could work on the various Capital Budget Projects that we have going here at WDVA, and learn another area of expertise within WDVA. It's another opportunity where I can still have a significant impact on the lives of our beloved Veterans by improving the living conditions within our three Veterans Homes across the State, continue to promote their legacy's by improving our Veterans Museums, and preserving their dignity in their final resting places by contiually expanding and improving our three Veteran's Cemeteries across the State. These are the bulk of the types of projects I'm now proud to be involved with.

Educate Wisconsin Veterans on the benefits available to them through the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs, and work with Veterans Service Organizations to help connect them with the Veterans who need their services.

Advised businesses on their property & casualty insurance needs.

Conducted fire & safety building inspections and served as a liason for the Campus Fire Marshall.
